My Planning Commission Service

Serving on the Lowell Planning Commission has given me firsthand experience with the careful preparation, public input, and long-term thinking that responsible growth requires.

Serving Lowell

Experience grounded in our community.

I have served on the Lowell Planning Commission since June 2019. In this role, I review and vote on land-use and development matters. The Commission acts directly on certain development applications and forwards recommendations to the City Council on matters that require legislative action.

This work requires preparation, attention to detail, respect for the city's plans and ordinances, and a willingness to listen to residents, property owners, developers, and other community stakeholders.

The work

Planning with today and tomorrow in mind.

Decisions made by the Planning Commission

The Commission acts directly on these applications. Some decisions may be appealed to the City Council as provided by city code.

  • Conditional-use permits
  • Large-scale developments and site amendments
  • Preliminary and final plats
  • Lot splits, tract splits, lot combinations, and lot-line adjustments

Recommendations forwarded to the City Council

The Commission holds public review and votes on a recommendation; the City Council makes the final legislative decision.

  • Rezoning and zoning-map amendments
  • Land Development Code and zoning-text amendments
  • Master Street Plan and other adopted-plan amendments
  • Other planning policy matters requiring City Council action

Prepared to continue serving

How this experience shapes my approach.

My Planning Commission service has shown me that growth decisions affect neighborhoods, infrastructure, city services, businesses, and Lowell's character. Those decisions deserve careful review and clear explanations—not rushed conclusions.

As a City Council member, I would bring that same commitment to preparation, responsible growth, open communication, and respect for every resident. I believe people should understand not only what the city decides, but also how and why those decisions are reached.
